Thanksgiving is celebrated every year in America on the last Thursday of November. It is a joyful occasion when families get together and are thankful for the good things in their lives. They eat a special lunch of turkey and pumpkin pie. There are parades in the streets, and it is an important holiday.
In Kindergarten, we learnt about the first Thanksgiving. The pilgrims set off from England and settled in America. After a difficult winter, the Native Americans helped them to grow food in the new land. The following autumn, they celebrated the first harvest with a special dinner. Thanksgiving gives us the opportunity to reflect on the things we are thankful for today: our friends, our families, good health and much more.
